Artist in Residence program in Paris 2026/2027 : Announcement of the Selection Results
The Institut français du Kansai – Kyoto and the Chishima Foundation for Creative Osaka are pleased to announce the recipient of the Artist in Residence Program in Paris 2026/2027, jointly organized in partnership with Kyoto Art Center, the Institut français, and the Cité internationale des arts. Kyoto-based painter and photographer Misa Shinshi will undertake a three-month residency in Paris from January to March 2027.
During her residency, Misa Shinshi will develop a project exploring the theme of « HOME » as a place where different histories and value systems coexist. Through research on the living environments of artists at the Cité internationale des arts and on the urban landscape of Paris, the project seeks to re-examine how we live with internal contradictions within the city’s unique historical and cultural context.
The AIR program in Paris aims to support artists and creators based in the Kansai region who are seeking to develop their practice internationally by offering them the opportunity to engage with France’s cultural, social, and artistic landscape. Applications were assessed on the basis of the artistic quality of the proposal, its relevance to a residency based in Paris and developed within the French context, the applicant’s commitment to expanding their practice internationally, and the potential impact of the residency on the next stage of their artistic development. Particular consideration was given to applicants with limited previous experience of international residencies or artistic production abroad.
